Andy Lowndes

Andy Lowndes is vice-president and founding trustee of the music and dementia charity Playlist for Life. He is a former mental health nurse and dementia researcher at Glasgow Caledonian University.

Andy is a seasoned public speaker, much in demand at events and conferences across the UK, where he is popular with audiences for his knack of involving them emotionally as well as intellectually in the powerful story of personal music and how it benefits people with dementia.

After developing a series of Music Detective podcasts, which have explored the power of music with a range of guests from across the field of health, social care and family caring, Andy’s next mission is to expand his public speaking to raise further awareness of the power of music for those living with dementia.

Andy's playlist

Adagio, Violin Concerto No 5 In A Major – Mozart

One of my Dad’s favourites and it reminds me of him.

Bring Him Home From Les Miserables

I Didn’t Know I Was Looking For Love – Everything But The Girl

Saints and Sinners (Glasgow) with darling Jen.

The Whole Of The Moon – The Waterboys

Back to my DJ years where there are so many to chose from.

Dance Away – Roxy Music

Roxy were a big part of my late teens and twenties. Oh, how I wished I was like Bryan Ferry.
