An annual event at Lenzie Golf Club has raised vital funds for music and dementia charity
On Friday 17th May 2024 almost 100 golfers took to Lenzie Golf Club to raise money for people living with dementia.
Playlist for Life supports people living with dementia, their families and carers through the use of personally meaningful music.
The sixth edition of the annual golf event was organised by Playlist for Life Trustee Dr Frank Dunn CBE and his wife Helen Dunn. 23 teams enjoyed a round of golf, pre-game breakfast rolls and a well-earned dinner, as well as the opportunity to win some first-class raffle and auction prizes.
Prizes on offer included hospitality tickets for four at a Manchester United game with post-match drinks at Sir Alex Ferguson’s private lounge, kindly donated by Sir Alex Ferguson himself. Other prizes included golf at Gleaneagles, golf at Loch Lomond, an evening of music at the Royal Conservatoire, exclusive restaurant offers and many more.
The winning team, who took the trophy, was Fitzpatrick and Co’s team: Richard Fitzpatrick, Gerry Ferguson, Kenny McDonald and Kevin Jennings.
Michael Timmons, Executive Director at Playlist for Life, said:
“This was another hugely successful fundraiser, and we can’t thank Frank and Helen Dunn enough for their efforts. An event like this takes a lot of planning and work behind the scenes to make it run so smoothly, and a great day was had by all.”
“As a small charity, fundraising is vital for us. We provide free support to anyone affected by dementia, but we rely on the support of donations to be able to do this. The funding raised from this event will help us reach and improve the lives the lives of many more families affected by dementia.
I’d like to thank Frank and Helen, plus all the businesses who supported the event by entering a team, sponsoring a hole and donating an array of wonderful prizes. Thanks also to our volunteer Linda Hill for her support on the day.”
Frank Dunn, event organiser and Playlist for Life trustee, said:
“Now in its sixth year, we’re delighted that the annual golf day continues to be an important event in the Playlist for Life calendar. On behalf of Helen and myself, I’d like to thank all the businesses who supported in many ways, as well as Lenzie Golf Club for hosting another hugely enjoyable day.”
At Playlist for Life we believe that everyone has a soundtrack to their life, so we jumped at the opportunity to ask our golfers what songs would be on their own playlists.
Watch the short videos below to hear from some of our golfers. What would be on your playlist?
@playlistforlife What songs bring back great memories? We asked some golfers at our charity fundraiser to share songs that would feature on the soundtrack of their life. 🎵 #playlist #soundtrackofmylife #musicfordementia #musicanddementia #golf #favouritesong ♬ original sound - Playlist For Life
