Diane Nicol is an experienced employment lawyer who has practised for 30 years and is a trusted advisor to a number of plc clients.
She was the only lawyer on the four person Taylor Review of Modern Working Practices commissioned by Theresa May’s government in 2016.
Diane has been interested in the power of music to stimulate memories and provide comfort for many years and having heard about Playlist for Life through a friend met up with Sally Magnusson to learn more about this amazing charity and its work. Having met Sally who is passionate about the charity, Diane felt convinced her business and legal skills could be put to good use in its development.
Diane's Playlist
My Way – Frank Sinatra
It was my father’s favourite song and although he died when I was a child it brings him alive every time I hear it.
Together in Electric Dreams – Human League
As a teenager in the 80’s this reminds me of school and university days and it still makes me and my oldest friends dance in the “New Romantic” style!
Ae Fond Kiss – Eddie Reader
A beautiful love song and all things Burns I connect with my husband who can recite Burns poetry beautifully.
The Wind Beneath My Wings – Bette Middler
This songs encapsulates what my mum was to me and my brother.
This is the Last Time – Keane
This song used to blast from the kitchen in Catalonia where we have spent every summer (not 2020!) since our children were small and it reminds me of such happy times with them.
Danse Macabre — Camille Saint-Saëns
The first piece of classical music I heard and loved.
