In the Mood – Glen Miller
This song reminds me of dancing in the living room with my mum. She introduced me to Jazz and Big Band tunes and this song is the best for lazy Sunday afternoons.
Rang de Basanti – A.R Rahman
This Bollywood song was playing on all radios in the summer of 2006 when I started my exchange year in India. Whenever I hear it takes me back to those mesmerising 12 months which were some one of the most memorable of my life.
Maids when you are young – The Dubliners
Heard at a folk session during one of my first weeks in Glasgow this song will always make me smile and remind me of how it feels to leave a country for another one and feeling that the world is your oyster.
With or without you – U2
Singing along on road trips through Scotland in summer with the salty sea breeze rushing through the windows and the radio on full blast. This song will get me through any dark winter evening with the memories and feelings it triggers.
The Planets, Neptune – Gustav Holst
The most beautiful eerie classical piece I have ever heard. First witnessed at the Glasgow Concert Hall about 6 years ago it will stay with me forever.
