Bonnie Wee Jeanie McColl – Carl Wilson
This song transports me back to sitting on my Gran or Grampa’s lap when I was really small. Listening to them sing it always made me laugh because I barely understood the lyrics at the time!
Mr. Blue Sky – Electric Light Orchestra
This song saw my family through many long car journeys during the holidays. Sat in the back seat sandwiched between my two sisters, tensions were fraught, so my parents would play this to stop us bickering for a full five minutes!
Hotel California – Eagles
I was brought up on the Hell Freezes Over album, and hearing Hotel California always reminds me of my dad singing along to it. We saw an Eagles tribute band in Glasgow a few years ago and I felt like a kid again!
F.N.T – Semisonic
10 Things I Hate About You was my favourite movie as a teenager, and this song always reminds me of it. It also prompts a visual of Heath Ledger as high school bad boy Patrick – which I’m not mad about!
27 – Passenger
I like to think of this as my feel-good song. It reminds me that I don’t need to have everything figured out all of the time.
